    Acupuncture Certificate & Diploma Course

                       Starting January 2010

Some of the benefits of our courses:

  • Approved by the CMA
  • Insurance available from Towergate
  • Arranged on weekends with home study in between

so that you can keep your day job

  • Taught by practicing professionals
  • Reduced fees for those with relevant TCM experience
  • Easy payment option for fees
  • Small groups with plenty of individual attention

For some time we have been considering the possibility of providing a  Certificate in safe acupuncture. I have recently come across one or two people who have taken matters into their own hands and have been giving acupuncture to themselves (and maybe others!) without any training.

This has prompted us to push ahead with plans for a course for 2010.

Safe Acupuncture

The course will be based on the safe form acupuncture that I myself practice – a technique called “shallow needling” – where the needles are only inserted to a depth of ¼ inch – and achieve the same benefits as deeper needling.

CMA Approved

The course has been submitted to the CMA (Complementary Medical Association) and has been evaluated and approved as part of the School’s programme of courses.

Towergate Insurance Available

The course details have been submitted to Towergate Insurance who have agreed to provide insurance for those qualifying on the course.

The Qualification

Those who successfully complete this course will be able to use the following letters after their name: 3TCert. Ac or 3TDip.Ac

  Conversion to Diploma

There is the opportunity to convert the Certificate to a Diploma level qualification for those successfully completing the Certificate course.  See the note on the Acupuncture Course Page.

Course Aims and Structure

The course aims to develop competence in the safe, effective and hygienic performance of acupuncture to treat a wide range of conditions.

The course will follow a structure similar to our other courses including contact teaching and home study.  All students will be required to have studied Anatomy and Physiology (or to study this alongside the Acupuncture Course) and unless exempt will undertake the same core studies in the Theory and Practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine as found in our Tuina and Medical Qigong courses.  These take place on Sundays jointly with our Tuina students.

Those applicants who have successfully completed one or more of our professional courses, or who can show that they have studied the same principles of TCM, will only need to attend on Saturdays.
